Position: Cook / Chef (3+ Years Experience)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef/Cook to join our culinary team. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about cooking, organised, and capable of managing kitchen operations. The Chef/Cook will work Wednesday through Sunday, overseeing meal preparation and assisting with food ordering and inventory to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen performance.

Specific duties will include:

1. Ensure that mise en plus is freshly prepared each day

2. Ensure meals are prepared according to required standards and in a timely manner

3. Source local food suppliers taking advantage of seasonal trends

4. Maintain adequate kitchen supplies and ensure that stock is rotated to ensure freshness

4. Prepare daily pastry / breads according to menu requirements

5. Ensure food wastage is minimised through optimised menu planning

6. Ensure that all staff adhere to health and safety laws and standard hygiene practices

7. Develop new recipes to be included in the menu

8. Oversee and delegate tasks to junior kitchen staff on a daily basis

9. Train and support junior kitchen staff to develop their skills over the long-term

Selection criteria:

1. At least 3 years of experience working in a small but busy commercial kitchen

2. Proven experience in managing and overseeing kitchen operations

3. Strong teamwork and communication skills

4. Committed to a long-term appointment

Hours: 38 hours per week (including weekend shifts)

Remuneration: $75K - $80K per annum based on a 38-hour week plus superannuation.
