About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our payroll team. For any payroll professional that is looking to build new skills and experiences this is the job for you as we are about to launch a new HRIS and Payroll partnering with Workday.
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries in line with legislative requirements, policies and procedures, as well as high level customer service to management and employees on conditions of employment matters.
The position will play a lead role in coordinating payroll activities including payroll related enquiries and payroll processing, ensuring appropriate levels of quality, and compliance is met in line with appropriate legislation, regulations, policy and procedures.
This role is a full-time role with a hybrid working arrangement with flexibility in choosing which days of the week you come into the office.
Your responsibilities will include:
Process end to end weekly and monthly payrolls including adjustments, tracking leave, salary packaging, reporting and payroll filing. This role will cover payroll over six of our legal entities with approximately 650 staff overall with staff in VIC, NSW and QLD
Updating and maintenance of payroll system history and records
Awards/agreements interpretation and application
Calculate, check and administrate leave reports and leave provisions
Prepare monthly superannuation payments to a Super Clearing House and Super Funds
Maintenance and payment to external organisations of all related employee deductions
End of financial year payroll processing, including the balancing and production of employee income statements through STP
Timely resolution of employee enquiries
Continuously strive for process improvements in the payroll function
Assist with HR payroll related queries and requests for employee information or reports
Keep up to date with relevant legislation information, (i.e. changes to ATO requirements, Superannuation and relevant Modern Awards)
Experience and skills:
Demonstrated experience in a similar end to end role within payroll, performing the end-to-end function as a stand-alone individual
Proven ability to interpret employee conditions such as awards and/or enterprise agreements as well as a sound understanding of current legislation such as superannuation and long service leave
A sound understanding of termination calculations including all leave types, superannuation and eligible termination payments
Proven ability to work independently and be responsible for payroll overall, meeting deliverables in a timely manner, as well as having the ability to work within a collaborative team environment and being a team player
Demonstrated multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in dealing with queries and issues
Desirable:
Experience using Workday HCM, Absence or Payroll OR
Experience using larger payroll systems like ADP, Dayforce or I Chris
Experience with any of the following awards: Waste Management Award, Vehicle Award or Clerks Award
