Council mechanic required to start as soon as possible

Hays are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Council Mechanic to join a local government workshop team in the eastern suburbs. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-maintained fleet and support a lead mechanic who is transitioning away from hands-on duties.

Your new role

• Perform maintenance and repairs on a fleet of light commercial vehicles and small plant equipment, including:

Sweeper trucks and bodies, compactor bodies, whipper snippers and similar equipment

• Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out preventative servicing
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Collaborate with the lead mechanic and workshop team to ensure smooth operations

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a mechanic, ideally with light commercial and small plant equipment
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
