About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong mix of operational leadership, communication, and analytical skills. You're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can juggle competing demands, and works confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience delivering management accounting services and financial advice to senior executives to support informed decision-making.
Proven experience managing high volumes of work and competing priorities, with the ability to lead an operational team while effectively managing upwards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information clearly for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
A track record of preparing complex and sensitive documents, including correspondence, briefings, reports, and other formal materials, with strong attention to detail.
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to use sound judgement in navigating sensitive issues and decision-making.
A high level of initiative, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential matters.
The ability to work independently while also being a proactive and collaborative team member who contributes to shared goals and the agency's strategic direction.
- Confidence in analysing large and complex financial data sets to support strategic budget planning and reporting.
- A strong understanding of financial and asset management accounting principles.
Desirable Skills and Experience
While not essential, it would be advantageous if you also have:
Proficiency in enterprise financial systems and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
Experience developing detailed costings for budget proposals within the Federal Government context.
Relevant tertiary qualifications, with preference given to candidates who hold or are working towards CPA or CA membership.
