Established in 2011, Child’s Play Qld is a widely respected Psychological counselling service dedicated to primarily supporting children aged 4 - 18 years, with increasing numbers of adult clients. Centrally located in Holland Park West, the clinic is in a charming Queenslander, creating a warm and safe environment for families.

At Child’s Play Qld, we offer bespoke services tailored to each client's unique needs. Our philosophy spotlights that young people may engage best through active counselling sessions using creative modalities like sand tray play, drawing, painting, clay modeling, and music. Our therapists integrate these methods into their practice, so there's lot of positive energy in the place, every day!

Our experienced team address a wide range of issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, bullying, school refusal, eating disorders, substance abuse, family separation, behavioral issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, gender identity, and grief and loss. We also offer cognitive and behavioural assessments, and we'll shortly re-commence group programs. So, learning opportunities and flexible options abound!

Our Psychologists have 8 years' experience on average, and have been at Child's Play Qld for 4 years on average. Our team describes our workplace culture as “fantastic”, surrounded by “knowledgeable”, “empathetic”, and “generous clinicians”. We close the clinic to clients from 1 - 2pm each day, to share lunch and connect together.

The Role

Having filled caseloads for 5 new therapists in early 2025, we again have 35+ clients on our waitlist, and we're building again to support these clients and more. We work in a close-knit and supportive environment with five dedicated clinic rooms available in the practice. With very strong client flow, and a clinic committed to delivering on our potential, this opportunity does not come often.

This role offers flexibility to work weekdays of your choice, plus Saturdays if you like. Ideally, we seek a Psychologist looking to work a minimum of 3 days per week but we can be flexible with other arrangements for the right person, depending on the needs of our clients. As a contracting General or Clinical Psychologist, you will have the freedom to direct your calendar and choose the referrals you see, to achieve the work-life balance you seek.

You will benefit from access to weekly peer consultation with our team of clinicians, as well as the daily informal peer support. We have a vast range of Psychology assessment resources, and you'll love our therapy resources in each room!

Essential Requirements

Drawing from the strengths of our current Psychologists, we seek like-minded professionals who:

Hold general or clinical Psychologist registration with APHRA.

Have a minimum 2 years’ experience.

Hold registration with Medicare or can obtain a provider number before commencement.

Demonstrate a compassionate, gentle approach.

Have a strong interest to continue learning in children/adolescents and families and creative modalities.

Are self-motivated, passionate and driven.

Bring experience working with young people using various evidence-based modalities.

Think 'outside the box' with high-quality evidence-based practice.

Are warm, personable, and capable of working both in a team and autonomously.

What we offer

Immediate access to a large and ongoing referral base of clients aged 4 - 18+ years, with a variety of presentations.

You choose the clients you want to work with. Both volume and clinical mix.

Flexible scheduling with the freedom to design your calendar. We support your calendar scheduling.

Competitive hourly compensation with potential for higher earnings outside business hours or weekends. 5 hours work as a General Psychologist sees you earn $660 per day. 6 hours = $792 per day. Higher again for after hours, Saturdays and Clinical Psychs.
