What you will be Doing

As a Mechanical Fitter / Workshop Supervisor, you will lead day-to-day workshop operations, carrying out maintenance and repairs on the company’s fleet. You will also manage schedules, support a small team, and ensure all work is completed safely and to compliance standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise daily workshop operations and staff

Allocate work schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks

Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment

Operate trucks and workshop machinery as needed

Manage and coordinate external suppliers and contractors

Inspect and oversee major repair work, sourcing parts as required

Conduct post-repair testing of vehicles, plant, and equipment

Audit workshop tools and equipment for readiness and compliance

What you will need

Mechanical trade qualification (required)

Forklift licence and manual driver’s licence (required)

Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, fuel transport equipment, light vehicles, and fixed plant

Practical knowledge of Kenworth prime movers with CAT or Cummins engines

Strong understanding of workshop processes and compliance

Supervisory experience or leadership capability (workshop or similar environment)

Effective communication and team mentoring skills

Good planning, organisation, and time management abilities

Competence in record keeping and workshop administration

Basic to intermediate computer literacy

Physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical and D&A screening

Solid understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and transport legislation
