EL1 General Finance Officer
6-Month Non-Ongoing Opportunity | Federal Government | Canberra Based

Randstad is partnering with a Federal Government agency to source an experienced EL1 General Finance Officer for a 6-month non-ongoing position. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong analytical skills, leadership experience, and a sound understanding of Commonwealth financial frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the delivery of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities

Provide expert financial advice to internal stakeholders and senior executives

Prepare high-quality financial reports, briefs, and submissions

Oversee month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and accruals

Support compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and government reporting requirements

Identify process improvements and contribute to financial strategy and planning

Mentor and support junior finance staff

About You:

Proven experience in financial management within the APS or broader public sector

Strong understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act

Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills

Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., TechnologyOne, SAP, TM1, or similar)

CPA/CA qualifications (desirable but not essential)

Baseline security clearance (mandatory)
