Mater Mothers' Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Midwife to join our Ambulatory Services team in a permanent, part-time position (32hrs per week).

This role involves providing antenatal care via antenatal clinic to women with a range of pregnancy risks, from low to complex cases, as well as delivering homecare and postnatal services through home visits. You’ll play a key role in offering comprehensive support to women throughout their pregnancy and early postpartum journey.

Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing

As a Clinical Midwife, you will be responsible for practicing with advanced clinical competence in the provision of quality and cost-effective care in consultation with other members of the health care team. This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role modelling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards, you will be responsible for:

  • Conduct midwifery antenatal checks and assessments to monitor the health and progress of pregnant women across a range of risk levels.
  • Liaise with obstetric teams to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care and manage complex cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
  • Provide support to staff on best practices for managing pregnancy care and improving outcomes for women in both antenatal and postnatal stages.
  • Undertake homecare visits to provide personalised support and monitor the health and wellbeing of women in their home environment following discharge.
  • Supporting the Midwifery Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development to ensure continued growth and competence in the role.

About you

To be successful in your application for this position it is essential that you have:

  • Current Midwifery registration with AHPRA
  • Significant post-graduate midwifery experience
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
  • An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team
  • Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater values
  • Current drivers licence
