Job Description:
As a Payroll Officer for our labour hire division, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of payroll for our temporary and contract workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processes, particularly within the labour hire industry and be adept at managing the complexities of payroll for a diverse and fluctuating workforce. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will work closely with the operations and finance teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and provide exceptional service to our employees, clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-end weekly payroll processing for 400+ labour hire staff using 2cloudNine
Process weekly/fortnightly payroll for recruiters’ internal teams using Xero
Interpret and apply awards, enterprise agreements, and pay rules (casual loadings, overtime, shift penalties etc.)
Perform payroll reconciliations, STP reporting, superannuation, workcover and payroll tax across multiple states and yearly lodgements
Compliance with the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and other relevant regulations
Generate payroll journals, client invoicing, credits and adjustments
Be the go-to contact for all payroll queries from employees, labour hire clients and partners
Manage overpayments, rate changes and payslip adjustments
Lead process improvements and assist in integrating new clients and candidates into our systems
Prepare payroll reporting and analysis to inform leadership and client needs
BOOT testing
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or higher qualification in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in payroll, including at least 2 years in labour hire payroll.
Strong understanding of labour hire award and enterprise agreement interpretation, including casual loadings and penalty rates.
Experience processing high-volume payrolls for casual and temp candidates across multiple sites or clients.
Advanced proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., 2cloudNine, Astute, Xero or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional attention to detail, time management and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
