About the Position
Working closely with the Northern Hub (Northern Western Australian and Northern Territory Drought Resilience and Innovation Adoption Hub) core members and project partners, the Senior Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer will create, shape, and deliver innovative and engaging marketing content and strategies across digital, print and broadcast media, and provide communications support to the Northern Hub. You will be responsible for all communications and engagement strategies for the Northern Hub including liaising with key stakeholders in government, agribusiness, and representatives of regional communities.
The position involves regular meetings with various internal and external stakeholders and requires excellent verbal communication, public presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional relationships.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; in communications, media, or a related field with subsequent relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of high-level communication strategies and concise communication plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to write for a variety of audiences and for multiple outlets – including feature articles, online content, and social media.
  • Well-developed skills and experience in website development.
  • Experience working in Agriculture or with local communities, including First Nations and non-Indigenous people, on social, environmental, or other issues.
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of communications and public relations methods and practices and proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating communications and public relations strategies, stakeholder engagement and communication campaigns.
  • Apply advanced technical skills in information technology.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively across all levels of a consortium of organisations in a wide and geographically vast area. Responsible for program development and implementation. Provide strategic support and advice (e.g. to schools or colleges/faculties) requiring integration of a range of policies and external requirements, and an ability to achieve objectives operating within complex organization structures.
  • Highly developed planning and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure to manage and meet tight and competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and under limited direction in a corporate environment, including setting and achieving priorities and monitoring workflow in a busy environment with competing demands.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to thrive in a changing work environment
    Desirable competencies
  • A background in Communication within an Agricultural or Corporate environment.
  • Experience engaging with First Nations groups.
  • Experience in managing media, and generating positive media exposure, within a research-related environment.
  • High degree of initiative, responsibility and self-motivation and a professional, creative and proactive approach to problem solving.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 8. The base salary will be in the range of $104,888 - $118,578 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $122,718 - $138,736 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
