About the role
We have an opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to be part of our Network and Security Platform Services, Technology and Communication Services Command. The Senior Network Engineer provides high-level engineering support for a diverse range of data communications network infrastructure, including core networks, and remote site connectivity. This position is responsible for design, implementation and support of network and security infrastructure supporting NSW Police Force 24/7 operations. In this role you will be required to provide expert knowledge across core networks and connectivity services, telephony, network security and service continuity platforms. You will play a key role in translating conceptual designs into operational solutions, driving deployment of technology projects and supporting resolution of complex operational incidents, while improving overall service reliability and performance.

About you
We are looking for a proactive, passionate network specialist who enjoys solving complex technical problems, committed to keeping abreast of emerging technologies and brings experience in design, onboarding and support of systems that impact mission critical services.
What you will bring to this role:
- Proven experience in designing, maintaining and supporting enterprise grade network environments across voice, data, video and security services.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, LAN, WAN & Routing, cyber security principles, service performance monitoring, capacity planning and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ability to effectively document and share technical knowledge with cross functional teams.
- Commitment to delivering high quality customer service and providing expert advice on technology solutions aligned to business needs.
- Proven ability to lead change and improve service delivery through continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide a high level of project support to teams delivering new and improved technology services by translating conceptual designs into network technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and objectives.
- Utilise existing and new services effectively by focusing on best practices in security and efficiency, while capturing, documenting, and storing critical knowledge of relevant NSWPF solutions.
- Work collaboratively with other NSW Police stakeholder groups and teams to contribute to service delivery excellence and ensure seamless service transition from project teams to Business as Usual (BAU) operations.
- Lead the change design and implementation to improve service quality or resolve problems, while overseeing IT services to maintain enterprise information protection and service reliability.
- Assess availability, performance, and capacity of services to support business needs and deliver against Service Level Agreements (SLAs), while developing, reviewing and revising practices to enhance user access efficiency.
- Plan and implement regular system upgrades to enhance service continuity and user experience, while providing Level III support to minimise user/system downtime.
- Escalate unresolved system issues to vendors and manage them according to SLAs, while implementing and maintaining backups and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Stay current with technological developments and recommend new technology, while providing expert solutions and applying best practices to their implementation.
