About the Role

Kairos is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Essential Safety Measures (ESM) Auditor to take on a rare and exciting leadership opportunity within our growing compliance and asset advisory team.

This is not your typical auditing role. We’re looking for someone who’s been on the tools, understands the real-world pressures of compliance, and is ready to step into a strategic, high-impact position. You’ll take the lead on major contracts, become a technical authority within the business, and help us scale our ESM service offering across Australia.

If you’re someone who knows their way around a riser cupboard, a hydrant flow test, and the VBA handbook — and you're ready to take the reins and lead — this role is for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the delivery of ESM inspections, audits, and compliance programs across government, education, health, and commercial portfolios

Take ownership of key client contracts, ensuring outcomes are clear, timely, and of high quality

Act as Kairos' technical authority in ESM, providing expert advice and guidance internally and externally

Train, mentor and build a high-performing team as we scale our ESM capability nationally

Contribute to system improvements, process development, and client reporting innovation

Represent Kairos in industry settings and regulatory forums when required

What We’re Looking For

5–10 years' experience in Essential Safety Measures auditing or compliance

Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards, BCA/NCC, and ESM regulatory requirements (particularly in Victoria)

Previous trade, fire services, or maintenance background highly regarded

Proven ability to deliver large-scale audits, navigate complex compliance issues, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Leadership qualities with a genuine desire to mentor, train, and grow a team

Ambition to step into a national leadership role as the ESM division grows

Tech-savvy mindset with experience using auditing platforms or compliance software
