The Community Forensic Mental Health Service is seeking multiple dedicated psychologists to join our specialist team providing psychological input to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. This is a great opportunity to be part of Tasmania’s only community based forensic mental health team, delivering evidence-based care, risk assessments, and professional consultation to a wide range of stakeholders.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including for risk (e.g. physical violence, sexual offending, stalking, etc.), psychological functioning, personality and cognitive abilities.
  • Provide court-ordered psychological reports and expert opinions
  • Deliver consultation and support to broader multidisciplinary mental health services and justice partners.
  • Work collaboratively with a skilled and supportive statewide team.

About You

We’re looking for a motivated and skilled psychologist who:

  • Has experience/knowledge in evidence-based risk assessments, working with complex risk presentations, and intervention treatment models with complex populations (e.g., CBT, DBT, Schema, EMDR)
  • Holds clinical or forensic endorsement (preferred but not required)
  • Has strong assessment, formulation, and report writing skills.
  • Enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams and values professional collaboration

Details of appointment:

Multiple roles available, permanent, full time and/or part time, day worker, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Correctional allowance of 6.5%
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia in the approved areas of Forensic and/or Clinical Psychology
