Engineering Manager – Cloud Ops

Reports to: Director, Platform Engineering
Direct Reports: 5 Engineers

The Opportunity:
Live sport. Breaking news. Prime-time streaming. This team keeps it running 24/7.

This isn’t backend support, it’s national infrastructure. Built and run by a small, high-impact CloudOps team inside Australia’s largest locally owned media group.

You’ll lead five skilled SREs and DevOps engineers, managing the cloud platform that powers publishing, broadcast, data, and digital products used by millions every day.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Scaling and securing Kubernetes infrastructure
• Improving system reliability, alerting, and tooling
• Owning FinOps: forecasting, cost control, vendor management
• Maintaining a clean delivery pipeline (Terraform, CDK, CI/CD tooling)
• Driving cross-functional alignment with product, cyber, data, and AI
• Coaching, unblocking, and growing engineers to do their best work

What you bring

• Strong cloud ops leadership in GCP and/or AWS environments
• Deep knowledge of IaC and CI/CD best practices
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at scale
• Confidence in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, TypeScript, Shell)
• Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Calm, structured thinking under pressure
