The Role
Land Systems Division within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group is seeking experienced and motivated EL1 Project Managers to lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering cutting–edge Australian Defence Force systems.
As an executive leader, the EL 1 Project Manager is accountable under broad direction for leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver important Defence projects within defined milestone and outcomes. In this role, you will provide submissions to Government, executive briefings, financial management and regular reporting on project status. Critical to your success will be the establishment and management of effective and collaborative stakeholder relationships.
You will be adept at managing complexity, applying analytical skills to a variety of information and data, scope opportunities, risks and issues, and utilise your problem-solving skills while coordinating multiple tasks within agreed priorities, timeframes and accountabilities.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
Land Systems Division’s (LSD) mission is to acquire and support capability that enables the ADF to generate and sustain deployable Land power for an integrated force, in peace and war. We aim to be agile, innovative and outcomes-focussed as we collaborate closely with the Services and industry to deliver the latest equipment to maximise ADF performance.
LSD project teams work collaboratively on the acquisition and introduction of capability such as vehicles, air defence systems, armaments, combat field equipment, surveillance equipment and health systems. The ideal person for this role will be an experienced and committed project management professional who is able to lead highly complex projects, and lead and develop a high-performing team to achieve results.
Experienced across all areas of complex project management, you will use initiative to make informed decisions, exercise astute judgement, and proactively identify and resolve problems. You will have excellent communication and collaboration skills to shape stakeholder expectations and respond to emerging requirements. Your adaptability and flexibility will enable you to respond to evolving strategic Defence requirements and effectively shift priorities, while applying emotional intelligence to foster team resilience.
