As a Plant Operator, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and constructing our roads and drainage assets.

As a Plant Operator based out of our Mirani Depot, you will carry out labouring and plant and truck operation duties associated with maintenance and construction of roads and drainage assets, or other associated civil infrastructure under the limited supervision of a Supervisor or Leading Hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Heavy Machinery: Competently operate ride-on equipment, light and medium mechanical plant, and rigid motor vehicles (trucks) with GVM equal to or greater than 22.5 tonnes.
  • Construction and Maintenance: Perform tasks related to the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure, including earthworks, concrete, pipelaying, bitumen, and vegetation work.
  • Traffic Management: Ensure safe traffic management around work sites.
  • Client Service: Provide excellent service to both internal and external clients.
  • Plant Maintenance: Conduct daily maintenance and cooperate with mechanical service personnel.
  • Training and Compliance: Participate in on-the-job training and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Current General Construction Safety "White" Card.
  • Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence or interstate equivalent (must be transferred to QLD within three months of commencement).
  • Current QLD Heavy Rigid Truck 'HR' Class Licence or interstate equivalent (must be transferred to QLD within three months of commencement).

Desirable:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction.
  • Current Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) qualifications or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.
  • Certificate of Competency to operate road construction plant and/or equipment - skid steer loader, roller, loader, backhoe.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in driving trucks in varying road conditions.
  • Experience in operating road construction plant e.g., roller, backhoe, loader.
  • Experience in construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure.

Desirable:

  • Experience in concrete work.

Skills

  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Well-developed plant operation and truck driving skills.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster a team environment.
