I am currently recruiting for an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise architecture practices within a major government department responsible for fines management and compliance enforcement. This role is central to building a formalised, scalable, and effective enterprise architecture capability that supports strategic alignment, business change governance, and technology transformation. This is an initial 6 month contract based in Brisbane CBD with possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement an enterprise architecture metamodel, including standards, conventions, templates, scripts, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Establish and embed an enterprise architecture governance and compliance framework to guide business and technology change.
- Collaborate with solution architects and business SMEs to standardise EA processes and ensure alignment to organisational strategy.
- Maintain a current and accurate repository of enterprise architecture artifacts, reflecting the organisation's "as-built" state.
- Develop and operationalise an ownership model for EA artifacts, embedding clear custodianship and accountability.
- Create a strategic road map to uplift EA maturity within the fines and compliance function.
- Establish and lead an Enterprise Architecture Centre of Excellence (CoE), including governance and operating models.
- Provide coaching, training, and documentation to enable sustainable EA capability across internal teams.
- Engage with business and IT stakeholders, translating complex architecture concepts into actionable insights.
Key Deliverables
- Updated and approved EA metamodel and reporting tools.
- Standardised EA artifacts such as capability maps, process models, and technology landscapes.
- EA governance framework and compliance documentation.
- Defined EA artifact ownership and custodianship model.
- Published EA maturity roadmap and uplift plan.
- Documented CoE operating model.
- Knowledge transfer sessions and supporting user guides.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Database and user management
- Versioning and model lifecycle governance
- Quality assurance and compliance
- ARIS Connect, Admin tools, and Aware dashboards
- Script editor and import/export capabilities
- Proven experience implementing enterprise architecture practices in complex environments, ideally within government or regulated sectors.
- Strong knowledge of EA frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Extensive hands-on experience with ARIS Business Architect, including:
- Proficiency with Power BI for reporting and dashboards.
- Experience using Confluence and Jira to manage EA documentation, workflows, and collaboration.
- A track record of establishing or contributing to an EA Centre of Excellence or architectural governance body.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, business-aligned outcomes.
- Experience leading capability uplift initiatives through coaching, mentoring, and structured documentation.
- Understanding of change governance and IT delivery models, including Agile and hybrid methodologies.
