ABOUT THE ROLE
To undertake the following during a programme of technology migration and network expansion:

  • Supporting an engineering team undertaking a network-wide hardware and software upgrade
  • Supporting the integration and removal of site hardware into the PSN
  • Supporting on site field technician’s commissioning PSN systems.
  • Reviewing and confirm upgraded PSN service/systems meet specification ready for operation
  • Monitoring and maintain the integrity of all Managed Radio Network infrastructure and services during integration.
  • Communicating with the Engineering staff, Field teams, Suppliers and Customers to effectively and efficiently manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) during the roll out.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To develop and maintain a coordinated work schedule together with the service installer, the Telco Authority and BAI to support a smooth transition onto new services.
  • To work closely with Level 2 Engineers, taking an active role in the support of configuration and verification testing and operational acceptance of new network components.
  • To become proficient in the use and understanding of the MPLS monitoring and configuration tool (SAM) to at least level 1 standard, to support the Level 2 engineering team.
  • To work with Level 2 Engineers to assist in the network upgrade.
  • To be able to diagnose and address faults in both staging and production environments.
  • To become proficient in the use of incumbent and new PSN Network Management Systems.
  • To become proficient in the use of established Incident and Change Management Systems and processes.
  • To prepare reports on progress.
  • Review documents provided by the 3rd party suppliers relating to the network upgrade. Ensuring technical compliance.
  • Update documentation, BAI and NSW TA systems to reflect network changes.
  • To work with the Transition Team Lead to ensure the PSN risk register is maintained in respect of project specific risks and issues.
  • To complete Analysis, Alarm management and Planned Outage training.
  • Coordination with Field Staff, service suppliers and end-users on incidences and planned works.
  • Effective support for testing and acceptance of all new sites added to the PSN under the CCEP programme.

ABOUT YOU

  • Trained to a minimum of ITIL Foundation standard.
  • Functional and technical knowledge of telecommunications networks and in particular, wide area P25 Trunked Radio and PMR networks is required
  • Experience with IP or MPLS based networks a plus
  • Good ability to review documentation and test results against test criteria Demonstrable capability and experience in project management and scheduling Advanced technical writing and technical document assessment/review skills
  • Trained to a minimum of ITIL Foundation standard
  • This is an initial 18-month contract

The position holder must be an Australian Citizen and have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a baseline security clearance as a condition of employment
