The Role:
The Case Worker supports families with children aged 0–17 through targeted voluntary interventions aimed at reducing risk and strengthening parenting capacity. The role involves working with 7–11 families at a time, using a coaching approach to develop achievable goals and improve child safety and wellbeing. Case Workers conduct regular in-home visits, complete assessments and documentation, and support families to access services such as parenting programs and early education. They must apply trauma-informed and systemic approaches, engage in crucial conversations, and maintain accurate records in a client management system. The position requires participation in regular supervision, training, and fidelity coaching to ensure consistent application of the Thriving Families Framework. A key focus is helping families achieve project milestones, build sustainable support networks, and safely consolidate progress before program exit. Strong relationship-building skills, cultural competence, and an understanding of child protection legislation are essential. The role requires a degree in social work or a related field, a driver’s licence, and valid checks for working with children and police clearance.
Essential Criteria:
Qualifications in social work, psychology or a related discipline
Demonstrated leadership or senior practitioner experience in child and family or community services
Proven Australian experience applying trauma-informed and child-focused practice
Strong skills in staff supervision, coaching, and performance development
Experience working with vulnerable and complex families, including culturally diverse communities
Sound knowledge of child protection legislation, risk assessment and safety planning
Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check
NSW Driver’s License
