Daily Duties and Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose and provide psychological treatment to clients presenting with mental health needs referred from a variety of sources, including general practitioners, psychiatrists, schools and members of the public. Client ages may range across the lifespan unless otherwise discussed.

Provide evidence-based treatments such as CBT, MCBT, CBT-T and TFT to clients suffering from a range of psychological disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, eating and anxiety disorders.

Develop and implement formulation-driven and appropriate treatment plans for clients.

Undertake psychological and psychometric assessments as required.

Track clients’ progress and maintain records in accordance with the practice's requirements. This includes administering appropriate disorder specific outcome measures from time to time and writing letters and reports to doctors as required by MBS and other referrers.

Work alongside Dr Chantler and other clinical psychologists and clinical registrars employed by BCP to assist in the treatment and recovery process of clients.

Contribute to the ancillary tasks, enabling the smooth running of the practice.

Participate in regular supervision.

Essential criteria

Ongoing registration with AHPRA as a clinical psychologist (or clinical registrar)

Enrolment into the AHPRA Endorsement Programme to become a Clinical Psychologist (where applicable)

Current PI insurance (please provide copies of certificates of currency).

Maintenance of your personal CPD by attending suitable professional training.

Ethical practice - in line with AHPRA’s Code of Conduct.

Punctuality, courtesy and kindness to other staff and clients.

A willingness to consult with clients after hours (5pm appointments)

Eligibility to provide Medicare psychological services

Current police check. Current DCSI clearances.

Strong administrative, written and organisational skills.

Willingness to work with people across the lifespan.

An interest in the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders.

Willingness and interest to develop skills in EMDR, Schema Therapy, DBT and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Excellent time management and communication skills

Positive ‘can do’ attitude committed to nurturing relationships with local referring agencies including liaising with doctors.

Enthusiasm for your profession.

A teachable attitude and willingness to learn via direct supervision and other modalities as appropriate.

A willingness to show action, initiative and interest in marketing your skills and services to suitable potential referrers.

A willingness to work with other registrars and clinical students.

Desirable Criteria

An interest in the application of clinical skills to the forensic population

Membership of the Australian Psychology Society College of Clinical Psychologists
