About You
Are you ready to leverage your skills and experiences to give back to the community and make a meaningful impact on people's lives? We’re seeking Support staff to join us at Byron Shire Respite Service (BSRS).
We’re looking for individuals with:
Certificate III in Individualised Care or equivalent
Experience working with older people, individuals with dementia, or people living with a disability
A caring, warm and positive attitude, with a passion for building genuine relationships, and supporting people to live independently and remain in their own homes
Availability for a minimum of 3 days a week, and the right to work in Australia
Infection Control and Food Handling Training
A current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or are willing to obtain one)
An NDIS worker screening check or willingness to obtain
NDIS Worker Orientation module or willingness to obtain
A smartphone, a valid NSW Driver’s License, and use of a reliable, insured vehicle
Required vaccinations
A day in the life of a BSRS Support Staff Team Member
This varied and highly rewarding role ensures that no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
Helping our clients live independently in their homes by assisting them with personal care, showering, dressing and grooming (providing their carers with much-needed respite).
Assisting clients to access their community, including transport to appointments, shopping, and social interaction.
Engaging clients in joyful, social, and cognitively stimulating activities both in the community, and at our day-respite programs in Brunswick Heads and Lennox Head. Our client activities include live music, singing, dancing, art, bingo, and creating life story books.

For over 30 years, Byron Shire Respite Service (BSRS) has been a cornerstone of care for the communities of Byron, Ballina, Tweed, and Lismore shires. We specialise in aged and disability care, with extensive experience in providing dementia-specific care and respite for carers.
BSRS embodied the philosophy of person-centred care long before it became a buzzword. People are at the core of our organisation and activities - our dedicated staff and volunteers, the clients who trust BSRS with their care, and the families who find solace in the respite we provide.
Originally founded as a day respite service, our day respite program remains at the heart of the organisation, complemented by a range of services including In-home Support, Community Access, and Social Group Opportunities.

Location
We provide in community support in the four shires of Byron, Ballina, Tweed and Lismore and our main office is in Brunswick Heads, and our day-respite centres are in Brunswick Heads and Lennox Head. Ideally, you live in one of the four shires we service: Byron, Ballina, Tweed and Lismore.
