Reports to: National Programs Manager
Salary & Conditions: This is a casual role. The expected hours of work are 2 days per week (15.2 hours) at $54.40/per hour, plus superannuation. Fringe benefit may be available, providing an additional $16k per year tax free.
Location: This role will be based out of our Parramatta centre.

Story Factory runs a wide variety of fun and engaging creative writing programs at primary and high schools across Sydney and Western Sydney, at our centres in Redfern and Parramatta, and digitally across Australia.
Since opening in 2012, our achievements include:
65,000+ student enrolments, with more than 8,000 enrolments in 2024;
15% of student are Indigenous and 49% are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
Recognition of our work with multiple awards, including a Secretary’s Award for Excellence in the 2018 Public Education Foundation Awards, and Executive Director and Co-founder Catherine Keenan AM being named the 2016 Australian of the Year Local Hero.

Purpose of the role
The Digital Storyteller is an experienced workshop teacher/facilitator passionate about nurturing creativity through digital means. This role involves delivering digital writing workshops to students in upper primary (Stages 2 and 3) and high school (Stages 4 and 5) across Australia. The Digital Storyteller works under the direction of the National Program Manager and collaborates with the Programs Lead to provide engaging and innovative online creative writing programs.
Story Factory is a Child Safe Organisation. Like all staff at Story Factory, the Digital Storyteller must adhere to our Code of Conduct at all times, and be a role model in all matters of child safety. A current Working with Children Check and Police Check are prerequisites.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality digital writing workshops to students in upper primary and high school, engaging them in creative storytelling through digital platforms.
Collaborate with the National Program Manager and Programs Lead to design, develop and review digital content for online workshops.
Foster creativity in students by providing guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback during workshops.
Manage the administrative aspects of digital workshops, including maintaining attendance records, editing and publishing student writing, managing technical issues and evaluations, and ensuring workshops run smoothly.
Adapt digital programs to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all workshops are inclusive and culturally appropriate.
Comply with Child Safe Organisation Guidelines.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Experience teaching students in primary and high school settings, as well as in community or out-of-school programs.
Proven experience running online workshops and creating digital content
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse people in educational settings.
Desirable
Knowledge of Open Broadcaster Software (OBS).
