At Logan House and Logan Family Recovery, we believe that with the right care and support, people can transform their lives. Located in a peaceful rural area in Chambers Flat, south of Brisbane, we offer residential rehabilitation for individuals aged 18 and above. Logan House is a 30-bed facility with a specialised treatment program lasting 6 to 12 weeks, while Logan Family Recovery provides six self-contained family units for parents to bring their children into a 12-week treatment program, reducing barriers to access.
Your Opportunity
The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team including Treatment Facilitators, Psychiatrist and Support Workers with our nursing staff being the primary providers of health support to people in the program. In addition to conducting initial assessments, you will monitor and assess their progress, provide supportive care, administer medication and supervise self-administration of medication, and provide routine nursing care.
We are currently looking for a full time Clinical Nurse to join the team, working Monday to Friday with no additional weekend work. We operate under the Aged Care Act, so our Registered Nurse role is a standalone position that provides oversight of medication administration, management and storage.
The role pays above award at $54.00 - $58.00 per hour and you will be eligible Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year, plus an additional $2,650 in Entertainment and Accommodation benefits.
What We Are Looking For
As a qualified Clinical Nurse, you will have a strong background, or interest in, AOD and Mental Health, and a commitment to supporting people dealing with these challenges. You’ll be comfortable working in an autonomous role and able to think on your feet and make stand alone decisions around risk and clinical management.
Clinical Duties include:
- Clinical assessments and effective nursing interventions, including psychiatrist referrals and coordinating private practitioner clinics.
- Providing intake support and transition of clients into the Residential service, including assessment
- Medication management, including documentation and governance
- Managing regular Nurse Clinics, including client check-ups and medication review
- Providing support and shadow shifts to medical students completing a placement at Logan House
- Being a conduit between the Logan House and other health services, including the LLW Specialist Centre.
You will need to have tertiary qualifications in nursing and hold a current AHPRA registration.
Coupled with your clinical skill set, you will also have:
- An understanding of how Residential Care works and be comfortable in this environment, which can include challenging situations
- Excellent rapport-building skills – you’ll be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, so strong working relationships are important
- A genuine dedication to helping people to reduce their substance use and improve their life journey
- A flexible, open, and engaging approach – you’ll be working with a range of clients with differing needs and complexities
- Strong communication skills, ability to self-manage and also work collaboratively as part of a team
- Good computer skills and ability to manage administrative tasks, including adding documentation to our CRM (HIVE) and medical system (HELIX)
You’ll also resonate with our values and evidence them in your day to day working life:
- We are humble, human, and full of hope
- We show up and share
- We ask “Why not” and “What’s next?”
- We leave a positive wake
