About the role

• Provide advanced Occupational Therapy services to acute stroke and neuroscience inpatients, using evidence-based assessments and interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Manage complex clinical presentations independently, applying advanced clinical reasoning and modifying standard practices to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and service evaluations to enhance Occupational Therapy practice within the stroke and neurosciences specialty.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including the Stroke Unit Director and Acute Care leadership, to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care aligned with clinical guidelines.
• Provide specialist advice and mentorship to Occupational Therapists across St Vincent's and wider networks, contributing to professional development, knowledge sharing, and service excellence.

About you

• You're a qualified and AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist with a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, bringing specialist clinical expertise and extensive experience in Stroke and Neurosciences rehabilitation.
• Skilled in applying advanced clinical reasoning to both routine and complex cases, demonstrating independent professional judgement and a strong understanding of acute care processes.
• A confident leader with experience supervising staff and students, supporting professional growth while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Actively involved in planning and delivering quality improvement projects and research initiatives, with a focus on enhancing service delivery and driving innovation in Stroke/Neurosciences care.
• A clear communicator with excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and negotiation skills, committed to the values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia, and holding a current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver's Licence.
