The City of Melville is seeking an experienced and strategically minded Solutions Architect to join our IT team on a 12-month fixed-term basis to cover a parental leave period.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the City’s technical direction by leading the design and implementation of enterprise-wide solutions that align business objectives with innovative technology. The successful candidate will bring strong architectural expertise, technical leadership and a collaborative approach to deliver scalable, secure and sustainable solutions that drive value and support our organisational goals.

Location: City of Melville Civic Centre

Salary: $131,066 to $142,492 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (Parental Leave Cover), Full Time

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture frameworks, integration patterns and design standards

Provide expert advice on solution design, implementation, and emerging technologies

Collaborate across business units to design solutions that are secure, scalable and future-ready

Support digital transformation projects and legacy system modernisation

Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver practical, value-driven outcomes

Ensure robust technical documentation, risk mitigation strategies, and architectural governance

What We’re Looking For

A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain

A recently obtained bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or related fields and/or extensive relevant industry experience

A solid grasp of application and systems architecture, with demonstrated experience in ERP systems (e.g. TechnologyOne)

Technical leadership across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – you’re just as comfortable talking tech with developers as you are discussing business needs with senior leaders

Strong documentation, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Agility to adapt to new tools, trends, and challenges
