Principal – Workforce Strategy & Development
Purpose of the Role
To lead and deliver projects focused on workforce design, development, and capability strategy - with a particular focus on Aboriginal workforce strategy from challenges to opportunities across sectors.
You will shape engagements from concept to delivery, ensuring cultural integrity, client alignment, and strong facilitation throughout.
Core Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of workforce-focused strategy and facilitation projects.
Build trust and relationships with clients across government, community, and corporate sectors.
Design and facilitate high-quality workshops with diverse stakeholders.
Provide advice and thought leadership on workforce policy, Aboriginal employment strategies, and systems design.
Support client capability uplift, mentoring and coaching, and codifying what works.
Contribute to business development and project planning alongside the leadership team and strategic advisors.
What You Bring
Strong cultural intelligence and understanding of First Nations cultural protocols, values, and lived realities.
Strong skills and experience in workforce design, Aboriginal employment, organisational strategy or HR reform.
Confident facilitation skills with experience leading cross-cultural conversations, executive workshops, large stakeholder meetings, and emceeing events
Familiarity with adaptive leadership, co-design or systems change approaches.
Track record delivering complex projects across its lifecycle from inception to evaluation
Experience working in or alongside Aboriginal organisations or communities.
Confidence working in ambiguity and adapting to client context.
Excellent strategic writing and verbal communication skills (e.g. briefings, discussion papers, strategy docs).
Additional information
These are First Nations identified roles. Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, as cultural knowledge is critical to the role's leadership and delivery function.
Principal-level consultant role; salary is negotiable.
Location flexible; with some travel expected.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, flexible, cross-functional team and comfort working in fast-moving environments with purpose-driven people is essential
