Position:

Automotive Metal Machinist - Crankshaft, Crankshaft Balancing and rotating assembly. Heavy Duty Diesel Engines.

**Carrying out critical inspection and repair to heavy duty diesel engine components.

Duties & responsibilities:

Complete high level component cleaning and assessment using state of the art equipment.

Carry out NDT crack testing operations and complete statement reports based on findings

Carry out multi-phase polishing and measuring operations using automated polishing machinery and micrometer measuring equipment. Complete statement reports based on measurements

Carry out grinding operations using AZ and AMC crankshaft grinding machines in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Carry out balancing operations using CWT balancing machine. Complete balancing reports as per balancing specifications.

Carry out connecting rod inspection and repair using different machinery and weighing equipment.

Act and respond in a safe manner in a workshop environment at all times

Key Skills required:

Trades certification in Engine Reconditioning/Metal Machinist High Level

Excellent ability to learn new tasks and take direction from senior managers

Excellent inter-personal skills

Excellent communication skills and phone manner

Ability to lead, train and manage staff

Computer literate

Able to interpret technical specifications in relation to machining and assembly practices

Able to interpret technical specifications in relation to machine maintenance

Recognise safety hazards

Experience requirement:

Working with heavy diesel engine components such as crankshafts, connecting rods and rotating assemblies

Experience with inspection of critical heavy diesel engine components for repair

Experience with micro polishing machines and procedures

Experience with crankshaft grinding machines and processes

Experience with crankshaft balancing, rotating assembly balancing machines and processes
