About the Role:
As a key member of our Corporate Affairs team, you will undertake effective media communications across traditional, new, and social media platforms. Your role will involve developing proactive media stories and posts, managing media inquiries, and supporting the organisations reputation through strategic communications. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure our messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned with our brand and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and issue engaging media releases, social media content, articles, videos, images, and infographics in collaboration with the Manager, Corporate Affairs
  • Research, prepare, and coordinate collateral to support media campaigns and social media strategies
  • Manage social media channels, moderate content, and respond promptly to media inquiries and issues
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with media representatives, government officials, community groups, and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor media and social media channels to evaluate campaign success and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide timely and accurate media advice and support during issues, incidents, or critical events
  • Act as a media spokesperson when required and support public engagement activities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, community interests, and media landscape to inform communication strategies
  • Support on-call duties and out-of-hours work as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Media, Communications, Journalism, or related fields
  • Proven experience in media and communications management, including content creation, media inquiries, and handling contentious issues
  • Strong understanding of traditional and digital media landscapes, including social media platforms
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills suitable for diverse audiences
  • Ability to develop strategic communication plans and content calendar
  • Sound judgment in managing sensitive issues with tact and professionalism
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build effective stakeholder relationships
  • Willingness to undertake occasional after-hours and weekend work, including on-call duties
