Who we are

Calm Consultants is a well-established, client-focused private practice, proudly located and founded in Tamworth - the regional hub for the Northwest NSW region. We have been providing high-quality, individualised and evidence-based mental health interventions to best support and empower our regional community members since 2010. The Calm Consultants team both live and work within our regional community, and we pride ourselves on providing both face-to-face and telehealth services to ensure we best meet the needs of our community. Our client base is diverse, coming from a wide range of referral bases and locations, allowing us to both cater to your clinical interests and build your case load quickly.

Practitioners typically see 5-6 client per day, with breaks scheduled between sessions for therapist self-care, and dedicated time to complete administrative duties. We also offer varied hours to best fit your lifestyle and ensure a work-life balance second to none.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Provide mental health services to clients across the lifespan and across a range of client types (Private Paying, medicare, EAP, NDIS, Workcover and Victim service clients)

Management of case load in a private practice context

Deliver high-quality, individualised and evidence-based mental health interventions

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop tailored treatment plans

Prepare written reports relating to client matters (e.g. case notes, psychology/NDIS reports, GP letters, referrals and case reviews)

Maintain thorough and accurate client records that meets both professional and ethical standards, as well as the standards outlined by Calm Consultants

Liaise with external services (Case Managers, Coordinator of Supports etc.)

Advocate for clients and provide appropriate referrals when required

Engage in regular and ongoing in-house supervision and professional development opportunities to enhance your clinical skills and abilities

Support the growth and development of the Calm Consultants team through contributing your ideas and best practices

About you

You are an AHPRA Registered Psychologist/Provisional Psychologist or an AASW registered Mental Health Social Worker

You are available to work a minimum of 2 days per week

You are an enthusiastic, curious and open-minded individual, with a warm and engaging manner. You are also authentic, motivated, organised and reliable

You are aligned with Calm Consultants values and culture

You have exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to build and manage professional relationships

You have a desire to work in a team-based environment and are committed to actively contributing to a team, including building connections with colleagues

You have knowledge and/or experience in mental health issues and systems

You are committed and passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of individuals living in regional and rural communities

You have experience in the implementation of cognitive-behavioural and/or acceptance-based therapeutic frameworks

You are committed to a journey of continuous learning and professional development and have a high capacity for self-awareness and self-reflection

You have an ability to manage confidential information effectively and in line with professional codes of conduct and ethical guidelines

Essential requirements

Hold current registration with AHPRA (Psychologists) or AASW (Social Workers)

Own indemnity insurance (or willingness to obtain)

A current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

Registration as a medicare provider (or willingness to obtain)

A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

A desire to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

Committed to being part of our team long-term, and a desire to build long-term therapeutic relationships with clients

Ability to work in a self-directed manner as well as effectively and harmoniously in a team

A willingness to work long-term and across the lifespan (children, adolescents and adults) as well as with a broad range of client types, including Private Paying, Medicare, EAP, NDIS, Workcover and Victim service clients

Ability to deliver high-quality, individualised and evidence-based mental health interventions

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Adherence to the APS Code of Ethics or equivalent

Desirable qualities

Previous experience in a private practice setting

Experience working with NDIS, Workcover, EAP and Victim services clients (or a willingness to work in these spaces)

Experience and a desire to work with children and teens

Experience working with trauma and complex mental health
