Lawyer - NSW Government

Location: Sydney CBD + WFH (hybrid)
Assignment Duration: Anticipated 65 days with potential to extend
Pay Rate: $680 per day + Super
Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours/day)
Eligibility: Candidates must be based in Greater Sydney

An exciting opportunity has become available within a government legal team. This opportunity is ideal for a litigation-focused legal professional seeking a dynamic and fast-paced regulatory environment with competing priorities and meaningful legal work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely legal advice and representation to internal clients
• Manage litigation matters, including drafting and filing court documents
• Analyse legislation and evidence to prepare legal documents, pleadings, submissions, and briefing notes
• Conduct legal research and draft advice; brief counsel where required
• Support stakeholders and clients by providing sound legal insight on a wide range of regulatory matters

About You

To be successful, you will have:
• A current Australian practising certificate that includes government legal practitioner authorisation
• Approximately 2–3 years post-admission experience in litigation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high-volume legal environment
• Previous experience in a government or regulatory setting (desirable)

Additional Requirements

• Must hold a current practising certificate with government legal practitioner status
• Must be based in Greater Sydney and able to attend the office 3 to 4 days per week
