KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Care For Children

a) To nurture positive and supportive relationships with children in order to develop a sense of belonging.

b) Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of quality child focused curriculums for children that adhere to Play & Learn’s Philosophy & Policies, National Quality Standards (NQS) and EYLF.

c) To maintain efficient and effective management of the room in the Team Leaders absence.

d) To be able to supervise the children unsupervised.

e) Be an advocate for children’s rights, interests, and overall safety and wellbeing in all aspects of the program and service delivery.

Partnership with Families & Communities

a) To work effectively with families supporting children’s learning through play.

b) To promote and support family involvement in the curriculum.

c) To engage in community development activities.

Team Participation

a) To communicate effectively within the team, and contribute as a positive team member.

b) To maintain a professional approach to work, reflecting and improving upon personal practice.

c) To be able to act as Team Leader for a period of up to 15 consecutive days in the Team Leader’s absence.

d) To assist with supporting the Centre’s student placement program within Play & Learn guidelines.

e) To support and mentor trainees, students and educators within the Centre

Health, Safety and Protective Care

a) To ensure the environment in which children learn and play is clean, hygienic and safe.

b) To respond to illness, accidents and emergencies in accordance with Centre Policy and Government regulations.

c) In conjunction with management, develop and implement policies and procedures on Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and the Food Safety Programme (FSP).

c) To follow Centre policy regarding personal health and hygiene practice.

Operational Management

a) To work within Play & Learn and Centre policies and procedures.

b) To undertake administrative tasks.

c) To maintain confidentiality at all times.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential

Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care or an approved equivalent qualification

Be 18 years of age or older.

Current HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

Child Protection Certificate*

Food Safe Certificate*

Protective Behaviour Certificate.*

Current Working with Children card.*

Medical Certificate.*

National Police Certificate.*

Alcohol and Illegal substance clearance.*

Knowledge and understanding of National Quality Standards (NQS).

Knowledge and Understanding of the implementation of the EYLF.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Proven ability to effectively communicate with children and their families.

Proven skills in the development and implementation of curriculum for 0-6 year olds.

Ability to assist in the effective operations of the environment.

Those indicated with * can be obtained on successfully gaining a position of employment

Desirable
