Resource and Community Support Officer | Elder Abuse Prevention | Chermside
Employment Term: Part-time, Maximum Term to 30th September 2025 with the potential to extend (45.6 hours per fortnight).
Location: Chermside
Remuneration: $51 per hour + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team
The Resource and Community Support Officer provides expert advice and support to callers Elder Abuse Prevention Unit with a focus on safety and wellbeing while advocating for the independence, dignity and choice of older people.
In this role, you will:
Work with stakeholders and community groups to raise awareness of issues affecting older people in relation to elder abuse and prevention.
Support the Service Leader and Local Service Manager with the development and establishment of program procedures and practice in the Elder Abuse and Prevention Unit utilising specialist content knowledge.
What makes a difference for us?
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field within the human services sector which aligns to the role and responsibilities of the position.
Demonstrated experience in working within a counselling capacity while responding appropriately to any risk and safety issues of clients
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and associated legal issues related to older people, and of government and non-government agencies that are responding to issues of elder abuse.
Demonstrated high level knowledge of state-wide and federal service systems relevant to older people and elder abuse.
Demonstrated expert knowledge of issues faced by older people in relation to elder abuse within the broader community.
Demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with departmental stakeholders to facilitate a cooperative response to the issues of elder abuse within communities.
High level of oral and written communication skills, including the provision of reports.
