Our client who offers worldwide specialty industrial related solutions and services with a focus on oil-free, high pressure, energy saving, and other applications are seeking an experienced Corporate Lawyer/Counsel to join its Team at their HO in the Western Suburbs.

Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel the Legal Counsel’s primary focus is to ensure that the operating divisions within the Oceania Region have access to legal advice and active support to assist the business in assessing, managing, and mitigating risks for and related support activities for the group companies in Australia and New Zealand.

Your duties include:

Foster legal engagement in commercial processes by building strong, trusted relationships with operating divisions, senior management, and frontline staff.

Combine legal expertise with commercial insight to assess risks and advise business units on practical solutions.

Deliver compliance guidance to ensure operations align with local laws, Group policies, and the Code of Conduct

Support negotiations for tenders, contracts, and leases—including participating in client meetings and tailoring contractual terms.

Conduct legal research, draft documentation, and assist senior counsel across various matters.

Advise on legal issues arising from day-to-day operations, including dispute resolution and litigation management.

Collaborate effectively with external legal advisors.

Guide teams to understand legal risks and ensure compliance with safety standards and corporate policies.

Build contract literacy and legal awareness by organising training sessions, workshops, and resource development.

Lead and support diverse legal initiatives—including M&A activities and regional projects—providing counsel throughout execution and integration.

Partner with the South-East Asia & Oceania Regional Holding Team and cross-functional groups to ensure holistic legal strategies.

Oversee legal compliance across entities within the Oceania Region

Provide corporate governance support as needed.

Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.

You will require:

A minimum of 4 years’ PQE experience in reviewing and drafting commercial sales/supply contracts in private practice or in a similar in-house position, ideally in the construction or the oil & gas industry.

Holds an unrestricted practicing certificate.

Self-driven with a positive can-do attitude and ability to multitask.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal directly with customers in pressured negotiations.

Solution orientated style of advice to guide the business how it can solve problems and mitigate risk.

Strong integrity – always with sustainable, profitable, growth to the benefit of the shareholders on top of mind.
