The Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre is a place of hope grounded in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customs, values, spiritual connection to ancestral lands, seas, and waters, and cultural knowledge. It offers a culturally safe and welcoming environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access support for their mental health and social and emotional wellbeing. The Centre takes a holistic, whole person approach that respects and includes traditional healing methods. Staff are culturally aware, trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and provide warm, non-judgemental, and compassionate care.
Centre Implementation:
Our centre is set to officially commence service delivery October 2025.
We are now recruiting passionate, enthusiastic staff who are not only committed to delivering accessible and culturally safe care, but who are also excited by the unique opportunity to help shape something from the ground up.

Recruitment Information:
Position Commencement: We are aiming to commence staff on the 1st of September 2025.
Hours: Full time (1.0FTE)
Contract: Ongoing
Location: While our permanent centre is being established in the CBD, positions will be based at Sonder Marion and Sonder Port Adelaide.

About the Role:
The Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Consultant provides culturally safe, trauma-informed, and holistic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities. Grounded in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework, this role recognises that wellbeing is inseparable from connection to land, culture, spirituality, ancestry, kinship, and community. The SEWB Consultant walks alongside people across the lifespan experiencing distress, grief, trauma, or disconnection—supporting healing through cultural identity, advocacy, and access to whole of person support.
Experience Requirements:
This position is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified position and is exempt under the Equal Opportunity Act (1984). The position will only be open to those who identify as of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
Experience working with SEWB framework, understanding people’s care needs and case management.
Deep understanding of the impacts of colonisation, trauma, and systemic disadvantage.
Experience working with Aboriginal children, families, and Elders in culturally responsive ways.
Experience supporting people with complex needs, including mental health, substance use, or family violence.
Experience facilitating yarning circles, group programs, or cultural healing activities.
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from regional and remote communities is highly desirable.

Immunisations is accordance to SA health Immunisation Policy
Relevant VET qualification (Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol or Drugs) or
Equivalent tertiary qualification or working towards
