The Role
As a core member of the Governance team, the Senior Governance and Compliance Officer supports the Council’s compliance with its statutory and legislative obligations. This role works to improve governance across the organisation and encourage best practice in all Town processes and procedures. Alongside the team they will showcase their knowledge and experience through providing governance support through research, reporting drafting and legislative monitoring. Additionally with the dynamic team they contribute to, audits, website updates, and general enquiries. Apply now!
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will embody the Town’s values of Friendly and Helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:
Previous experience (at least 3 years) in a governance or legal role in local government or equivalent qualifications.
Experience in the provision of advice and guidance to managers and staff on technical, legislative and governance matters.
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work under pressure and track and monitor the completion of tasks in line with statutory requirements.
Highly developed oral and written communications with the ability to liaise staff at all levels and write straightforward documents and reports.
Proven ability to research, analyse, resolve and provide clear advice on issues.
Strong understanding of the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) and associated regulations.
