Description

• Provide expert advice on workplace relations matters, including awards, agreements, and employment legislation.
• Develop and implement workplace relations strategies and policies.
• Manage and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
• Lead negotiations for enterprise agreements and other workplace arrangements.
• Conduct investigations into workplace grievances and disputes.
• Provide training and guidance to managers on workplace relations practices.
• Collaborate with the broader human resources team to support organisational goals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workplace relations trends and legislative changes.

Profile

Must have:

• Solid experience in workplace/employee relations (not just generalist HR with minor ER exposure)
• Comfort operating in NSW industrial law and Fair Work frameworks
• Ability to manage investigations, performance issues, and workplace disputes

Nice to have:

• Prior experience in local or state government
• Experience with union engagement (USU)
• Understanding of agency/contingent workforce issues

Open to:

• Candidates from outside public sector (if experienced in WR)
• Candidates with union backgrounds (brings helpful perspective)
• Part-time consultants (3-4 days/week) or contractors
