Senior Accountant – Public Practice (Mulgrave VIC)

Step into a full-time senior role where you’ll work closely with the Director and a diverse client base to deliver expert tax, compliance, and advisory services.

Our client is a premium accounting and advisory firm based in Mulgrave, working with a broad range of clients, including local and international businesses with turnovers exceeding $20 million. They specialise in strategic tax, compliance, and financial advisory services, with a reputation for long-standing client relationships and navigating complex regulatory environments.

About the role:
As a Senior Accountant, you’ll take the lead on financial reporting and strategic tax planning for companies, trusts, and individuals. You'll manage end-to-end compliance work, represent clients in dealings with the ATO, and prepare for both local and overseas audits. You'll also play a key role in advisory projects, succession planning, and cross-border tax matters with partners in the USA, Asia, and Africa.

Your key responsibilities:

Prepare financial statements and tax returns across various structures

Deliver expert tax advice on GST, FBT, CGT, Div7A, and franking credits

Lodge BAS and IAS and manage client bookkeeping and payroll

Work across MYOB (primary), Xero, and QuickBooks platforms

Liaise with the ATO regarding client queries, reviews, and audits

Support international and local audit engagements

Contribute to tax planning and business advisory projects

Assist in transitioning clients to cloud-based systems and improving internal processes

What you’ll bring:

CPA qualification (essential)

10+ years’ experience in public practice

Strong technical expertise in tax, compliance, and reporting

Proven ability to manage complex, high-value clients

Proficiency in MYOB, with solid skills in Xero and QuickBooks

Experience with audit preparation, including cross-border compliance

Excellent communication and client management skills

Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
