Join our Early Childhood and Families Team

The Early Childhood team Speech Pathologist is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Therapeutic Care Staff, providing assessment and therapeutic developmental services to children 0-4 years and their families in the Southern metropolitan region of Adelaide. Individual, joint and group work is offered to support developmental skills in children and their carers/families.

About the role:

Reporting to the Allied Health Service Manager, Child Development and the Advanced Clinician, Speech Pathologist W&C, some of your duties as the AHP2 Speech pathologist may involve:

  • Providing services to the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) as part of the multidisciplinary team. The team focuses primarily on children, birth to preschool entry and their families.
  • Developing, providing and evaluating high quality Speech Pathology services with an early childhood focus within an inter and transdisciplinary contact. Services will include assessment and therapeutic intervention.
  • Informing the Allied Health Service Manager and the Clinical Lead Speech Pathology - Early Childhood & Family of any issues to do with the development, management and evaluation of Speech Pathology and Early Childhood and Family Services.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable children and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to, work with and support children 6 weeks to school age and their families from various cultures and backgrounds, often in complex vulnerable families.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically and reflectively evaluate own work and maintain own professional development to meet requirements.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise a large, complex caseload under limited direction.
