The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Healthcare Quality and Safety Team is part of the Quality and Innovation Unit and is responsible for ensuring that systems are in place for IUIH to deliver safe, high quality, Propa health care to the communities we serve and continually improve our services.
About the Role?
This position supports all the functions of IUIH’s Healthcare Quality and Safety Team, including embedding a culture where healthcare quality and safety is everyone’s business and implementing our Healthcare Quality and Safety Framework and Toolkit:
- Community Governance and Accountability
- Governance and Leadership
- Integration and Coordination
- Workforce Capacity and Competence
- Monitoring and Evaluation.
Day to Day Duties Include:
- Coordinate healthcare quality and safety improvement initiatives, including the development, drafting, implementation and review of contextualised IUIH and IUIH Network healthcare governance documents, such as policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Contribute to effective, coordinated use of data – both qualitative and quantitative – to support monitoring and evaluation of healthcare quality and safety improvement initiatives.
- Undertake healthcare system audits.
- Contribute to the review and updating of IUIH and IUIH Network guidelines and processes for managing healthcare incidents.
- Under the direction of the Manager – Healthcare Quality and Safety, monitor the operation and use of IUIH’s digital quality management system, including generation of regular reports for relevant committees and governance bodies.
- Contribute to supporting our workforce to build confidence, capacity and capability in healthcare quality and safety by providing Wayfaring/shadowing opportunities for colleagues and contributing to other education and development activities, such as workshops and developing new online education resources.
About You?
- High level understanding of the principles and practices of healthcare quality and safety / clinical governance.
- Experience of using digital quality management systems and high level understanding of the purpose and functions of quality management systems.
- High level understanding of the purpose and functions of health information systems.
- Experience in delivery of formal and informal education and development activities across a broad cross-section of provider types and skill levels.
- Tertiary qualification in a health profession.
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
- Experience of being involved in healthcare quality and safety / clinical governance functions.
- Current Criminal History Check.
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
