About the Role
As a Demi Chef, you will primarily support the à la carte and Grab & Go operations during middle and evening shifts. Reporting to the Senior Chef de Partie, you will assist in preparation, cooking, and service while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation. This role requires flexibility with working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Some Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present dishes for à la carte and Grab & Go services to brand standards
Assist with mise en place, production, and plating across your section
Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and stock rotation in line with hygiene standards
Work closely with the Senior Chef de Partie, providing support during busy service periods
Contribute ideas for menu specials and presentation improvements
Follow all food safety, HACCP, and sustainability procedures
Uphold a collaborative, positive kitchen culture aligned with Caption by Hyatt’s values
About You
Previous experience as a Commis or Demi Chef in a hotel or busy restaurant environment
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
Comfortable working evening and middle shifts with flexibility for rostered changes
Sound knowledge of safe food handling and HACCP
Confident working independently and as part of a team
Strong time management, communication, and organisational skills
Positive attitude and commitment to quality
Experience with à la carte service and Grab & Go operations will be highly regarded
