ABOUT US

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded by and is still led, governed, and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative, and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy, and support.

At its core, NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children, and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara, and Yankunytjatjara region in Central Australia. Our role is to work side-by-side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Child and Family Wellbeing Service is made up of three programs; Child Nutrition, Child and Family Intensive Support Service (Walytjapiti) and Child Advocacy.
The primary focus of the Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS) is to deliver targeted, efficient and effective community services within the NPY region, seeking the best possible outcomes with regard to improving the quality of life for Anangu children and communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the Project Officer is to develop, lead and deliver projects that align with Walytjapiti core business. This role is aimed at strengthening families through workshops, engagement, research, consultation and resource development, while working from a community development framework to ensure all project activities are appropriately aligned and relevant to Anangu people.

ABOUT YOU

You will hold qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, Public Health, Nutrition or have relevant experience. You will have knowledge of relevant Child Protection legislation and understanding of the issues that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in remote communities.

This is a unique opportunity to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will have the privilege of working closely alongside Anangu families and communities and experience an extraordinary landscape and part of the world.

You’ll receive a comprehensive orientation program as well as best-practice supervision and professional development, including training in vicarious trauma, case management, and four-wheel driving. We also provide critical incident debriefing and access to a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition, we offer:

Above award remuneration
