At the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS) our work bridges diagnostics, research, and translational science, delivering cutting-edge genetic and genomic services in partnership with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI). As a cornerstone of this ecosystem, our Software Systems and Integration (SSI) Unit plays a vital role in ensuring our technology infrastructure empowers world-class service delivery.
We're looking for a Software Support Lead to head our software operations team. This critical leadership role will ensure the availability, performance, and continual improvement of our core pathology software systems—both on-premise and in the cloud.
Your responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate a high-performing software operations team.
- Monitor, support, and maintain critical systems, ensuring stability, security, and efficiency.
- Oversee incident management, system diagnostics, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders across VCGS and MCRI to align IT support with clinical, research, and operational needs.
- Maintain robust relationships with project and business teams to proactively manage service transitions.
- Champion operational reporting, database performance, and software system health monitoring.
- Drive innovation and contribute to enhancing our digital service delivery.
What we need from you:
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in cloud computing, particularly AWS.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support service delivery in a clinical, research, or diagnostic environment.
- Proven experience with incident response, stakeholder engagement, and systems improvement.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
