About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled Project Manager – Hazardous Areas to lead and deliver a range of electrical projects including refinery upgrades, petrochemical installations, and explosive atmosphere works. Your leadership will ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards, particularly AS/NZS 60079 and IECEx.
This is a key role that combines field leadership, client engagement, and technical oversight. You’ll drive project success while mentoring field teams and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
Manage full project lifecycle from design to commissioning and handover
Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 60079 standards and site rules
Oversee Ex equipment selection, installation and verification
Lead inspections, testing and hazardous area dossier management
Client Engagement & Business Growth
Serve as primary contact for clients and stakeholders
Contribute to tenders, proposals and project planning
Identify new business opportunities and build long-term client relationships
Site & Team Management
Mentor and support field staff and subcontractors
Monitor project progress, safety and financial performance
Ensure robust site documentation and change control
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 2 years’ experience managing electrical projects in hazardous areas
Hazardous Area Certification (EEHA, COMPEX, or equivalent)
Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 60079 and AS/NZS 3000
Experience with inspections, dossier compliance and technical reporting
Strong leadership, planning and communication skills
Current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence (required)
Australian Citizenship, PR, or valid working rights
