About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mobile Plant Mechanic to join our team in a workshop-based and field service capacity. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, from mechanical repairs and diagnostics to equipment maintenance and on-site support. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the performance and reliability of our mobile plant equipment and dewatering systems across workshop and project locations.
Key Responsibilities
· Workshop-Based Repairs & Maintenance - Carry out the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of a variety of mobile plant machinery and mechanical systems, including engines, gearboxes, and pumps. Use technical drawings, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently in accordance with required standards.
· Field Service & On-Site Support - Provide field service support for mobile plant machinery and dewatering systems, including on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of pumps, pipework, and related equipment with limited travel to project sites. Assist with equipment mobilization, emergency breakdowns, and urgent repairs to ensure minimal downtime and quick return to service.
· Document Maintenance - Complete and maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and inspection checklists in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
· Parts and Equipment Management - Maintain workshop tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturer and site standards, ensuring inventory is managed effectively and work areas are kept clean and operational.
· Team Collaboration & Support - Work collaboratively with fabrication and dewatering teams, provide mentoring to apprentices, and contribute to continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
· Client Liaison and Reporting - Communicate with clients and stakeholders regarding repair progress, equipment performance, and improvement recommendations, ensuring transparency and service quality.
· Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance - Follow all HSE procedures during workshop and field activities, promoting a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with legislative and company standards.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Qualifications & Experience
Trade qualification as a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or similar
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
Licenses & Certifications
MR/HR Rigid Driver’s License
High-Risk Work License (LF & DG)
Mobile Plant Tickets - Excavator, Loader, Tele handler, forklift (Advantageous)
Construction Industry OHS White card (advantageous)
Skills & Attributes
Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding expertise
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
Pre-Employment Requirements
· National Police Clearance
