Aboriginal Family Safety Worker – Trainee Position - Domestic & Family Violence
Gudjagang Ngara li-dhi is an Aboriginal agency on the Central Coast of NSW representing the Aboriginal communities that fall within the Local Government area of Central Coast.
The name Gudjagang Ngara li-dhi is from the Darkinjung language and means ‘listen to the children’. This principle forms the basis of our core belief that Aboriginal children and young people need to be connected to their community and culture and to participate and contribute to their story.
The Aboriginal Family Safety Worker Trainee will gain invaluable hands-on experience in the Domestic and Family Violence prevention sector, all while being mentored and supported by Gudjagang Ngara Li-dhi’s experienced and dedicated team.
This position provides an opportunity to contribute actively to initiatives that foster safer, more connected environments for Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
As part of this role, the Aboriginal Family Safety Worker Trainee will provide a wide range of culturally responsive and comprehensive supports tailored to the unique needs of families affected by domestic and family violence. Responsibilities may include:
Helping families build their knowledge, confidence, and skills regarding Domestic and Family Violence.
Supporting families to develop tools and strategies for positive communication and strengthening family bonds.
Assisting families in navigating service systems and accessing essential information and services.
Collaborating with families to create appropriate safety plans, addressing the needs of both users and victims of Domestic and Family Violence
Helping to reduce risks of re-traumatisation by supporting victims/survivors in their recovery journey-physical, mental, emotional, and economic-from the impacts of violence.
