As a Safety Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce. You will be responsible monitoring safety protocols and procedures across our organization. This is a hands-on role where you will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to our employees.

What your day will look like?

• Maintain effective safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and workers to promote and enforce a strong safety culture.
• Provide safety induction and training to new hires and ensure ongoing safety awareness among existing employees.
• Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
• Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, training records, and compliance documentation.
• Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes, and proactively recommend improvements to existing safety programs.
• Manage return to work programmes.

You will ideally have:

• Relevant certifications such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent, Also White Card.
• Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Sound knowledge of work health and safety regulations, standards, and practices.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels.
• Familiarity with incident investigation techniques and report writing.
• Proficiency in using safety management systems and computer applications.
• Ability to work autonomously.
