Job Description:

As part of their growing Darwin operations, Linx is currently seeking a reliable, safety-focused Forklift Operator / Container Handler. This is a hands-on, physically active position working outdoors in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manual handling of cargo and equipment, including items up to 20kg (e.g., rice bags, fishing nets)

Frequent bending, lifting, and movement in various directions

Standing and walking for prolonged periods (8–12 hours/day, excluding breaks)

Placing wooden gluts beneath loads to enable forklift access

Managing paperwork and ensuring all containers are accounted for and checked off properly

Communicating effectively with team members via radio and hand signals

Transporting containers to and from the terminal and Darwin Port

Packing and unpacking containers manually or using a forklift/reach stacker

Cleaning containers with a hose or power washer for quarantine purposes

Cleaning cargo as per company requirements—includes washing, wiping down, or vacuuming under supervision

Loading and unloading empty containers in line with operational procedures

Operating forklifts and reach stackers

Managing equipment vibrations depending on surface and load

Requirements

Valid Forklift Licence – essential

Full Australian Driver’s Licence – essential

Dogman Ticket – highly regarded

Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments

Strong awareness of safety procedures and attention to detail

Willingness to work flexible hours as required—standard hours are typically 8am to 4pm, but shifts may vary and can occasionally extend up to 12 hours.

Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and a national criminal history check.
