Make an impact at Serco
As a Registered Nurse – Drug & Alcohol, you will provide targeted and compassionate care to individuals experiencing substance use issues in a correctional health setting. Your work will focus on clinical assessment, case management, and harm minimisation—helping to support rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term change.
Enjoy a full-time, Monday to Friday role (8:00am – 4:00pm) with no shift work – plus 5 weeks of annual leave!
As a Drug & Alcohol Nurse , you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Delivering evidence-based nursing care for patients affected by substance use
- Assessing and managing intoxication, withdrawal symptoms, and Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST)
- Supporting patient care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Referring patients to appropriate health professionals and support services
- Providing clinical guidance and acting as a triage point for substance-related health concerns
- Leading and participating in case reviews for patients with identified AOD needs
- Ensuring documentation is accurate and reflects best practice
- Contributing to a safe, culturally sensitive, and respectful healthcare environment

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of one year of experience in primary health, acute care or AOD settings
- Knowledge of substance use management, including withdrawal care and pharmacotherapy
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with diverse team members and stakeholders
- A commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful practice
- High levels of personal integrity and accountability
