Youth Mentor / Mental Health Worker – Geelong
$38–$41/hour | Casual & Part-Time Roles Available
Make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people through mentorship, healing connection, and real-world guidance.
About Us
Respite Haven is a progressive, person-centred organisation that provides therapeutic, semi-independent accommodation and support to young people under the NDIS. We don’t just “support”; we walk alongside. Our model is grounded in empathy, trauma-informed practice, and helping individuals rediscover who they are beyond diagnosis or circumstance.
We are now seeking passionate Youth Mentors / Youth Leader in Geelong who want to inspire change, build trust, and help young people thrive.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll act as a role model, a steady presence, and a support for young individuals aged 16–25 living in our supported accommodation. Your focus won’t just be on tasks but on transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
Mentor and guide young people through everyday life and emotional challenges
Engage in creative or calming activities like art, journaling, drives, walks, music, shopping, or outings
Support emotional regulation, independence, and routine without pressure or control
Encourage life skills (e.g. cooking, appointments, self-care) through gentle coaching
Be present during crisis moments or shutdowns, using trauma-informed approaches
What We're Looking For
You might be a youth worker, peer mentor, mental health student, or simply someone who understands the power of showing up.
We're looking for:
Experience in youth support, mental health, or related human services
Empathy, patience, and presence — not just skills, but values
Understanding of trauma-informed care, positive behaviour support (PBS), or working with vulnerable youth
Confidence in working 1:1 with young people experiencing anxiety, ASD, addiction recovery, or high-risk behaviours
Cert III/IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, Community Services or similar (or lived experience with insight)
Must have: WWCC, NDIS Worker Check, valid driver’s license, and First Aid
Why Join Respite Haven?
We offer:
Ongoing training and mentoring in PBS, mental health, communication, and de-escalation
Supportive leadership from professionals who understand frontline work
Flexible rosters that suit your lifestyle
Clinical debriefing and reflective supervision
Purpose-driven work that creates real change
Ready to Lead from the Heart?
If you're ready to work with purpose and help young people shape their future, we'd love to hear from you.
