About the job
Orygen, in partnership with Victoria University, provides a unique learning environment to their students in an ‘outpost’ model. The outpost model consists of students attending a headspace service as part of their VU psychology clinic placement for two days a week. The students provide brief intervention to young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health concerns.
The Clinical Supervisor will provide weekly supervision to students within the headspace centre and support the placement of outpost students.
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager you will:
- Provide weekly supervision to students in outpost placement, support and secondary consultations to students.
- Ensure supervisee’s clinical reporting and correspondence via headspace electronic file is of a high quality and meets the needs of referring agents, other care providers and young people.
- Support the implementation of Brief Intervention Clinic (BIC) toolkit with students in supporting young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health concerns.
- Liaise with senior clinicians and clinical educators in the team to support the students’ placement and attend meetings with the university’s student coordinator to complete the end of placement review.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. (Psychology, Clinical Psychology) and full registration with AHPRA.
- Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor, eligible to provide supervision to provisional psychologists.
- Significant experience in the provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation and psychosocial interventions for young people experiencing mental health difficulties and/or substance use problems.
- Previous experience in providing leadership and supervision to staff or students.

This is a part time (0.3FTE – 1 ½ days on Tuesday/Friday) contract until end of October 2025.
